How is The Singer/Songwriter Awards different from other songwriting contests?

- We evaluate your song by your ability to perform it as well as write it

Is my music protected?
We Are Listening shall uphold all formal and informal contact to stringent
moral and legal privacy measures. For more information,

How do I enter?
You can enter by clicking on Enter Now.
If I live outside the UK, can I enter The Singer/Songwriter Awards?
Yes. This is an international project and we encourage
diversity. Approximately 90% of our entries are outside of the UK.
How much is the entry fee?
The entry fee is £15 or the foreign currency equivalent
(approx. €25 or $30).
How do I pay?
We only accept online debit and credit card payments. Please
do not send cash or cheques in the post. Making an online
payment is easy: simply click on Enter Now and follow the
simple instructions.
When should I enter?
You can enter now. We accept entries all year round
and evaluate them every two months.
How many songs can I submit?
You can enter as many songs as you like.
Are there categories?
No. All the songs will be evaluated equally, regardless of musical genre.
Can my song be in any style?
Yes. Be as creative as you like but try to avoid submitting
orchestral scores or hymns as they are difficult to evaluate
under the judicial banner of "Singer/Songwriter".
Can I submit the same song more than once?
Yes. It is our policy to evaluate every entry equally and
without prejudice. Therefore, some people feel that they can
improve their chances of winning by having the judges hear
their song more than once.
Can the song be written by more than one person?
Yes. The song can be written by more than one person but it is
your responsibility to share the prizes between yourselves.
Can the lyrics to the song be in any language?
No. Unfortunately, we can only accept English language
entries at the moment.
How are the songs evaluated?
Each Song will be evaluated on its (i) delivery and musical
merit; (ii) composition of melody and harmony; (iii)
composition and setting of lyrics to music.
Who will be evaluating my song?
We have selected an exclusive panel of judges consisting of
leading figures within the music industry and academic circles.

Do the judges consider the recording quality of the song?
No. The recording quality will not be considered by the judges.
What happens if I miss the deadline for The Singer/ Songwriter Awards?
If you miss the deadline, your submission will be evaluated in
the next Singer/Songwriter Awards. Don't worry, we will not
discard your submission if it is late.
Will you send my CD or cassette back to me?
No. For this reason you may choose to send us your song via

What are my chances of winning?
The Singer/Songwriter Awards is not a lottery. If you believe
that your music is exceptional, your chances are very good.
If I win, how will I know?
Winners will be contacted directly by We Are Listening by
phone or email.
When is the deadline?
The deadline for The 2008 Singer/Songwriter Awards (Round 4) is the 2nd Sept 2008.
When will the results be announced?
The results will be announced within 30 days of the deadline.
